Fancy yourself as a photographer? AusPharm regularly publishes photographs submitted by our members and would love to have a look at what you have to offer. Ideally, photos should have a pharmacy aspect to them but this is not mandatory. To submit a photo for consideration please email Mark Dunn.

Biggest B*mb of a car :: Shannon Mullen : 16/08/2013 :

The winner of our 'Biggest bo*b' of a car competition is Shannon Mullen, who has won a 6 month subscription to AusPharm premium. We've also awarded the prize to a second worthy entry, whose photo we'll publish early next week.

---------

Shannon: My car was a 1989 Mazda 121 Funtop.

250,000 on the clock. Never got serviced and always ran a little bit hot...

Despite that it was a great little car, I got a few strange looks though :-)

HMRs in the beautiful Pioneer Valley this week :: Karalyn Huxhagen : 09/08/2013 :

My HMR week has taken me to the beautiful Pioneer Valley near Pinnacle Mountain.

The crisp beauty of a winters day in North Qld is captured as we fly up the valley in my dream red helicopter.

If only I could afford to travel like this each day!

Throw away your crutches.... :: Julie Stokes : 02/08/2013 :

Walking along the cobbles streets of Jerez in Spain late last year, I happened to look down what I thought was an arcade.

Turned out to be a niche filled with neck braces, knee braces, trusses and the like where people were giving thanks to the Virgin for their recovery.

It is certainly positive feedback on a good outcome.

My friend Robi :: Bill Arnold : 26/07/2013 :

In the absence of a new Photo to run this week, we've republished the very first Photo of the week we ran, back on Jan 4 2006.

This is my friend Robi, the superb young male Cheetah at the National Zoo in Canberra.

He came from the de Wildt Research Establishment in South Africa where I think I may have met him as a small cub. Very friendly; loves mouthing your hand, gently applying pressure and purring loudly.

National Registration :: David Haworth : 19/07/2013 :

One of the bonuses of national registration is that a NSW pharmacist can work for 5 weeks in Tasmania.

Taking the car by Spirit of Australia ferry trip overnight was my travel option. Perils can include a shared cabin with the hands down winner of the World Snoring Championships - nice guy, awesome performer. Lucky for me the purser found me another cabin.

This photo taken at 4pm on the eve of the ferry leaving Port Melbourne.

God's Waiting Room :: Peter Bayly : 12/07/2013 :

"God's Waiting Room" would be a more appropriate title for this shot taken during a half day stopover on the island of Lombok in Indonesia. This cruise is dominated by octogenarians many on walking frames or wheel chairs.

While not technically brilliant, it best reflects the medical atmosphere which surrounds us; we call it the floating nursing home, others the floating infirmary!

The gorgeous Carol Bayly shown here in the foreground is one of the younger passengers at 72.

WWI injecting equipment :: Peter Ryan : 05/07/2013 :

This Hypodermic Kit was brought into the pharmacy by a patient who had the onerous task of cleaning out a dead relative's garage. The kit is in a chrome plated tin approx 8cmx4cm.

We believe it may date back to WW1 so the "Morphine & Atropine" and "Cocaine Hydrochloride" tablets would not have any pharmacological activity left.

Fairy meadow :: Tony Lee : 28/06/2013 :

This is the spot in Pakistan where 10 climbers were recently shot by Taliban terrorists. It is the same spot I camped about three years ago.

The small cleared area is called Fairy Meadow. It is at 4,900m elevation and it is unusual in the Himalayas at this height to see grass and pine trees. It is almost Swiss. There has never been terrorism apart from normal tribal feuds here before. The only ‘tourists’ are serious climbers attempting the summit & the authorities only allow a few each year to make the attempt.

*This* is a fungus :: Chris Alderman : 21/06/2013 :

During a trip around Costa Rica we were able to observe first-hand the riot of biological diversity that comes with high rainfall, rich volcanic soil and serious attention to conservation efforts.

This eye-catching growth of fungus was one of many we encountered in the rain forests.

This Central America country is clean, safe and a welcoming destination, with a wealth of unique plant and animal life - well worth a look.
