Fancy yourself as a photographer? AusPharm regularly publishes photographs submitted by our members and would love to have a look at what you have to offer. Ideally, photos should have a pharmacy aspect to them but this is not mandatory. To submit a photo for consideration please email Mark Dunn.

Canberra Balloon Festival :: Amanda Galbraith : 22/03/2013 :

This photo was taken last week, during the Canberra Balloon Festival, as part of Canberra's Centenary celebrations.

It shows our Capital Chemist balloon, piloted on this occasion by my father, Danny Galbraith, with Leo the Lion special shape balloon, adjacent to Old Parliament House.

Kala Pattar :: Davin Field : 08/03/2013 :

Here is a photo from a high altitude trek around Mt Everest that I did with my brother Rod in 2005.

I'm on the left, and my brother Rod is on the right. We are at Kala Pattar (at 5500m above sea level) opposite Mt Everest.

It looks nice and sunny but the wind was very high that day (30 kph +) and we had an air temp of around -8 celcius. Wind chill on my little wind/temp gauge was around -20 celcius at times. We spent just over 3 weeks trekking up and around the Everest region camping each night in a tent. No showers in the 3 weeks either!

Murumbeena 1940 :: Bev Baxter : 22/02/2013 :

Priceline eat your heart out.

Remember this was BEFORE the PBS scheme, in a suburban strip pharmacy in the late 1940s. I did my apprenticeship there in the late 1950s & bought it in 1960s.

Clearly, there were OHS issues with stock above.

I have another photo from a pharmacy in the early 1970s - after PBS - with even more stock & wonderful closed overhead cupboards stuffed with stock.

Pharmacists enjoy French Alps study tour :: : 15/02/2013 :

A group of 20 Australian pharmacists have recently returned from the annual Medici Capital Pharmacy Study Tour, held this year in the world-renowned French ski resort, Val d’Isere.

Participants enjoyed long days on the ski slopes followed by thought provoking conference sessions each night. The Study Tour is held at a different international ski resort each year and seeks to expand pharmacists’ horizons and business frontiers by providing fresh ideas for pharmacy ownership and management.

Pictured below from left to right are Tasmanian pharmacist Peter Pitt  and Medici Capital's Mina and Frank Sirianni.

Pharmacists are a talented, multi-skilled group :: : 08/02/2013 :

As 'listers know only too well, the art of pharmacy involves being proficient in a range of diverse skills.

AusPharm would guess, however, that not too many have the particular skill possessed by Tasmania pharmacist Helen Noonan.

LIFTA :: Peter Ryan : 01/02/2013 :

I was fortunate enough to visit Turkey a couple of months ago and happened upon a pharmacy in Istanbul where, obviously, there is no restriction on displaying Via*ra,Ci*lis, Le*itra and their generic knock offs in their windows.

I was particularly impressed with the choice of the trade name “LIFTA”.That is up there with the choice of “Plan-B” as a brand of EHC in the US!
