Fancy yourself as a photographer? AusPharm regularly publishes photographs submitted by our members and would love to have a look at what you have to offer. Ideally, photos should have a pharmacy aspect to them but this is not mandatory. To submit a photo for consideration please email Mark Dunn.

Orcas :: Greg Kyle : 05/10/2007 :

I was in Canada recently to present a paper at the 23rd International Conference on Pharmacoepidemiology and Therapeutic Risk Management in Quebec City.

On the way home, we spent some time in Vancouver and went whale watching. We were around a pod of transient (seal eating) orcas for about ½ an hour as they swam, breached and waved their tails in the Gulf Islands near Vancouver Island. It was a fantastic experience.

I was amazed :: Graeme Holloway : 03/08/2007 :

This is a photo taken inside a small pharmacy, by US standards, 2 blocks back from Waikiki Beach in Honolulu.

I was amazed.

New Newcastle B&B :: Simon Shaw : 15/06/2007 :

Simon Shaw is the son of Newcastle pharmacist, Mark Shaw.

Photo is of the Pasha Bulker, coal ship that ran aground on Nobby's Beach during last weekend's storm. It is nicely framed by the Nobby's Surf Clubhouse.

Nobby's Beach is now famous for a tricky left hander!

Toowomba retro :: Peter Ryan : 01/06/2007 :

You might get a chuckle out of this one.

It was taken in the main street of Toowoomba.

No waiting :: Cath Brunskill : 25/05/2007 :

How about this for permanent signage on the front of a pharmacy?

It's permanently switched on outside the front of the shop, so no waiting apparently... not the most exotic of Japanese scenes, but I couldn't resist. Taken in Sendai, Japan, March 2007.

Beach in Port Davey :: Mark Dunn : 11/05/2007 :

Back in 2003, when AusPharm still owned Dover Pharmacy, we were fortunate enough to win the Tassie prize for QCPP Pharmacy of the Year. We spent the prize money ($1,000) on a fly in/fly out day trip to Port Davey in Tasmania's south-west wilderness area.

The photo is of one of the magic places we visited (thanks to my son, Eli, for tinkering with the raw image).

Nurofen in a c*nd*m vending machine :: Murray Felstead : 20/04/2007 :

Last year, my wife and I returned to Australia from a 4 year working holiday in the UK. On our last day there, I found this c*nd*m vending machine in the loos at Heathrow Airport. Now please understand - I don't normally take photos of c*nd*m vending machines. But this one I had to. It has five dispensers, four with c*nd*ms and the bottom one was dispensing Nurofen packs.

This takes the cake as far as I am concerned with regard to where you can get Nurofen. The Nurofen sold for two pounds (about AU$5) with the various c*nd*ms going for between 3 and 5 pounds Sterling. One might ask why they had headache tablets with condoms. I'll leave you all to ponder that one!!

Three little girls :: Tony Lee : 05/04/2007 :

Last year I did a 4 week trip to Tibet with 1 week in Sichuan. The aim was to drive across Tibet and drop into Pakistan NA via the Hunza. We went close but the Chinese in Tibet proved too big an obstacle at the very last leg - too many special permits and bakish and too little time to wait and sort it out. We were able to drop some stock in Bangkok for lads from Lahore to take through as it was too risky through Tibet. Still a great journey and rather more difficult than I foresaw. Lost many kilos.

The 3 little girls are 8,10, 14 and only the 10 years old has had a couple of years school. They are up looking after family sheep while their bothers look after the yaks at about 4,600m (they are nomads). Gentle questioning showed that none had any vaccinations and they obviously live in squalor. Still gorgeous and there's a smile there to break you.

House of Mistry :: Jenny Blennerhassett : 23/03/2007 :

Here is a photo of a pharmacy in London taken by me in December 2006.

It looks like a mini-Colesworth/health food store, but is advertising health clinics. I almost missed that it was a pharmacy - with the stall of organic fruit and veg in front!

New vision for API? :: Cathy Beckhouse : 02/03/2007 :

Couldn't resist trying to capture this from the bus over the Venice causeway.
